Happy Holidays to Everyone!
We are getting ready to head out for the airport and I thought that I would update Jackson's site quickly. Santa Claus must have known that we were leaving today because miraculously he showed up a day early!! Jackson was surprised and delighted and he thinks that it might be the best Christmas ever.
I decided to leave my trusty (and sometimes not so trusty) laptop at home during our trip. I had the idea at first that I would spend time working on a law review article during our vacation. Several events changed my mind about that...
First, the 14 days of finals proved to be almost too much for Jackson! He had a very difficult time being literally shoved aside this year as I tried to immerse myself in studying 24/7 x 2. He was easier to keep distracted at 5! Second, on Thursday night, the night before my last final, I awoke to the sound of a very sick Jackson. He was running a fever and vomiting--in the middle of his bed. He's not fond of the midnight race to the bathroom. It was a long night and a long day, taking an exam on 2 hours of sleep is not my idea of a good time! Jackson remained a very sick little guy for the remainder of the weekend. It always makes me nervous when he is sick. There's always a sneaking suspicion that there may be more than meets the eye with him. After all, once you've been tricked, you fully expect it to happen again!
Happily though Jackson has seemed to turn the corner and we're off to Disney World and then to the beach. I am giddy just thinking about the uninterrupted time that we'll be spending together! I looked at my computer and the stacks of research papers laying on my desk and said to myself "it can wait." Jackson will never be 6 years old again and I am determined to unplug and give him my undivided attention. I have to be honest and say that there will be two other computers on this trip. So, if I absolutely have to, I can check my email and even do a little research if Jackson goes to bed early.
We wish everyone a very happy holiday and a festive new year! We also hope that our boy Harry has a fun week with his canine friends. If you get the chance to "unplug," whatever that means to you, I highly recommend it. If I get a minute I'll upload some vacation pics while away : )

It's The Great Pumpkin!

The Scariest Pumpkin in the World!
Sunday evening Jackson and I carved the scariest pumpkin in the whole world! Despite feeling a little under the weather this year, Jackson made the most of trick-or-treat. Not surprisingly he has a knack for turning lemons into lemonade!
He tricked and treated all through the neighborhood until he could hardly stand up. Wearing an authentic fireman's helmet might have contributed to his fatigue! Jackson has his kindergarten Halloween parade tomorrow and that will wrap up the fall season as far he is concerned. As I type this he is making out his list to Santa Claus! Tomorrow begins the official countdown to Christmas at Disney....should Santa leave the presents in the lobby of the hotel under the tree? I'm thinking that this could turn out to be a Royal Tenenbaum kind of Christmas as we've thrown tradition to the wind! Thanks for checking in.Posted by Manon at 5:24 PM 0 comments

Moving On...
- The loss of two teeth and subsequent visits from the tooth fairy who apparently now brings toys as well as money!
- A stellar soccer season being on the one of the top teams in the league. Jackson has consistently played on the wrong side of the field, gone the wrong direction, and engaged in various forms of theatrics mid-field and mid-game!
- The fact that there are no naps in kindergarten makes it ten times better than preschool
If you're interested in the life and times of Jackson, stop by from time to time for updates and photos! With my current schedule I can't promise much but I'll do my best to post more than once a year : )
