Just a quick update with a lot of pictures from our pre-school trip! The trip went by too fast as always but Jackson had a blast with his buddies despite the terrible weather! We're back to reality and Jackson is loving first grade. I'm on the downhill to graduation...and the bar exam in July 2009!

Om...

Jackson was delighted this week when his Uncle Bryson (B-ah) came rolling into town from California! All week, Jackson had been joking about an episode of Camp Lazlo where Raj and Lazlo were meditating...it went something like this:

Raj: "Om...Om...what are we "opposed" to be feeling Lazlo?"
Lazlo: "Om...what Raj...Om?" etc.
Coincidentally, B-ah brought Jackson a Krishna shirt and explained the meaning behind it. Jackson's Lazlo impressions seemed even more appropriate!
Jackson's mind is racing all the time. I would actually like it if I could get Jackson to do a little "Om-work," as his uncle called it. This summer he may start taking yoga classes in an effort to slow him down a little and get him to relax!
As finals roll around again, I could use a little om-work, although I don't see any sight for the next couple of weeks. If I have one complaint about law school, it is that it promotes an extremely unhealthy and stressful lifestyle! I'm counting down the days until summer...
Thanks for checking in!

Cool Kid

Was there ever any doubt?

Not from my perspective!

Jackson had a sleep over tonight, his second one. He started preparing for it this morning at approximately 9:00 by picking out what he was going to wear. Picture this...

I saw a very white and wet flash speed by my office door this morning. It was Jackson fresh out of the tub and wrapped, well as much as one can be wrapped, by a hand towel. I have to give him credit for trying! His hair was slicked straight back and when I entered his room he held out his arm, in a law enforcement type of way, and said, "You don't need to come in here. I'm picking out my own clothes this day!"

Well, that was that. I have officially been cut out of the morning ritual that includes drying him and getting him at least most of the way clothed. Whether this is the new routine or not remains to be seen. Perhaps he just needs to feel in control of the sleep over day, down to the most minuscule of details (like the direction of his part). That brings me to another point. He says that he likes his hair parted "to look like a piece of pizza" on his forehead. This means that he wants a triangle shape to appear where the part is made...not too cool. Still he's entitled.

As for the clothes he picked out an appropriate "Rock & Roll" shirt that would say to any other 6 year old "Hey I'm almost on my own now." He paired that with his dark wash jeans and suede boots and he looked pretty hot!

He then proceeded to tell me, "put about 6 blueberries in my buttermilk pancakes, then put them on my tray and bring them downstairs to me...please. Oh and don't forget my Chocolate Silk."

After all of that, he set up his room and picked out a DVD. He informed me what was to be on the menu for the evening and how late they would be staying up. He and and his friend went to a basketball game and arrived back home at 10:00. He requested the pizza, the DVD, and the treat.

He nonchalantly worked his way over to the i-Pod and put on a little Cat Stevens for his friend's benefit and did a little air guitar...in keeping with the shirt which has provided the flavor for the entire day!

I continued to work on my paper as he entertained. I try to stay out of the way so as not to ding his cool factor at. Finally at 12:30 I went to check on them and ended up having to carry his friend to bed. According to Jackson, his friend had been out for some time. But Jackson was still Rockin'

Oh, what will the future bring? I'll post some new pics next week of Harry's Birthday festivities!

Hard Day's Work

Decisions...Decisions

Laying Down on the Job!

Basically a whole lot of nothing! That's our definition of vacation. I enjoyed being "unplugged," but I confess I checked for grades and email about every other day. We spent the first two days in Orlando and went to Disney World, where I might add, there was no Christmas cheer. The park reached capacity on Christmas day. The lines were too long, people were generally not nice, and it was hot! We ate lunch at Tony's on Main St. and then decided to head to the beach instead of fighting the crowds. Once we were at the beach we literally did NOTHING. Most nights we even ordered in because it just seemed like too much of an effort to go out. What could be better than eating dinner while staring out the window at the ocean? Another benefit is that Florida in December has the most amazing climate. During the day it is close to 80 degrees and at night it's cool enough for long sleeves. This meant that most evenings we left the doors open to hear the surf.
So now we're back to reality and looking forward to our vacation in July! But first we have "Valentimes" Day, Easter, and birthdays to celebrate. Tomorrow is Harry's second birthday. We can't believe that our baby is growing up : ) We'll celebrate with a cake and gifts which is really more for Jackson than Harry, although he will probably get a piece too!
Happy New Year and thanks for checking in!
